Basics of Pistol Shooting Course

1 DAY - Basics of Pistol Shooting

The Basics of Pistol Shooting Course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely. You should expect both classroom and range time, learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. You will learn rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing and kneeling positions; cleaning the pistol and continued opportunities for skill development.

The course is a beginner course and designed to provide the novice student with greater confidence in handling firearms. It is recommended to be taken prior to a NV CCW Course or a Personal Protection Course.

COST:  $150 includes range fees and all materials.  


CLASS LENGHT:  8 hours  including a one hour break for lunch.  

STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE:

  • The NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook
  • NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure
  • Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet
  • Take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination
  • Receive a course completion certificate


WHAT TO BRING:

  • Firearm:  Any caliber double-action revolver or single action/double-action semi-auto pistol. AR-15 type pistols are not allowed in class. Your gun must be in good working order. If you don't own a gun, one will be provided at no charge (equipment reservation is required).
  • Ammo:  250 rounds is required. PLEASE LEAVE AMMO IN CAR IT CAN NOT COME INTO THE CLASSROOM.     
  • Protection:  Prescription glasses, sun or shooting glasses are required, along with hearing protection. 


 *Instructors will provide coffee, water and granola bars in the basic classes held at the range, but outside food and drink is okay to bring into classrooms.

2 DAY - Basics of Pistol Shooting

The Basics of Pistol Shooting Course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely. You should expect both classroom and range time, learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. You will learn rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position and two handed standing position; cleaning the pistol and continued opportunities for skill development. 


The course is a beginner course and designed to provide the novice student with greater confidence in handling firearms. This course covers identical material as the 1 Day course; however, this course splits the day into two days for those who prefer shorter days.  It is recommended to be taken prior to a NV CCW Course or a Personal Protection Course.


COST:  $150 includes range fees and all materials.   

CLASS LENGHT:  2 days/4 hours  (8 hours)
